The 70’s movie with the name of Rocky Balboa, which tells the story about the poor but talented athlete, identified the hoodie as the symbol of rebellion, struggle, and unrest. The thriving athlete covers with his sweater with a hood like with the shield to escape the hardships of reality. Rocky wants to be by himself in his own quiet little world with nobody interfering with him. And while today almost everyone in the US and UK owns a hoodie, it is still considered to be a dress of an outcast or rebel by a few.
The history of the sweaters with a hood continued by the factory employees in the city of New York, who were wearing them to work. Champion had created and sold the first prototype of the hoodies. Later, hoodies were sold to football and track-and-field athletes, for cotton sweaters had been great during exercising. During 70’s, hip-hop music and culture idealized the hooded sweaters that fit Rocky Balboa’s style and remained the cult of isolation and rebellion since then. The ability of the hood to cover one’s face is important to those, who want to stay unnoticed with either with good or bad intentions on their mind.
